Biography :

"Finn Mickelborg was a Danish painter. Mickelborg began as a surrealist, but during his apprenticeship with Bamse Kragh-Jacobsen 1960-65 was led into constructive painting.

Finn Mickelborg's starting point was in the Copenhagen artist milieu in the 1960s, where he developed as a jazz musician and tavern owner. The interest in Surrealism, as it was cultivated in the circle around the Galerie Passepartout, with its emphasis on perfection and science fiction, occult subjects.

The friendship with Bamse Kragh-Jacobsen led Mickelborg towards constructive painting, an interest that was deepened through the meeting in 1974 with Torben Ebbesen. An original core of Ny Abstraktion, of which Finn Mickelborg, just as it had been the case with the group Gewind, was a keen initiator."
