"Carsten Schmidt-Olsen was born in Denmark in 1952. He grew up in the town of Hjørring in the north of Denmark, where he still lives and works. From 1974 to 1975 he attended the Ny Carlsberg Glyptotek in Copenhagen, a school for classical drawing. Carsten Schmidt-Olsen sees himself as a concept artist and uses various media such as painting (“robat-painting”), graphic design, photography, video, performance and Mail Art, to which he was introduced by Yoshio Nakajima in 1979. He had his first exhibitions around in Denmark (start 1975), and then also international. Carsten Schmidt-Olsen is a member of the Danish Association of Artists, a member of the Artist Society and of the Academy of Fine Arts, Denmark."
