Biography :

"Ane Mette Ruge, born 1955, Danish video artist and photographer; studies in i.a. Denmark and Mexico. In addition to video art, Ane Mette Ruge works with photography, sound art and installation, often with everyday elements. In 1981, she co-founded Værkstedet Værst. Since 1988, Ane Mette Ruge has been a member of the opera and theater organization Holland House. In 2004, she became a member of the Decembrists.

In recent years, Ane Mette Ruge has created a number of site-specific decorations for newly built care centers and housing communities for the developmentally disabled in both Lyngby-Taarbæk and Ballerup municipalities. In addition, Vordingborg municipality provides signature works for selected day centers for the mentally ill and the developmentally disabled. Most recently, she has decorated the main entrances at the two new hospitals in Aabenraa - the Emergency Hospital for Sygehus Sønderjylland and the New Hospital for Psychiatry (2012-14).

In 1999, Ane Mette Ruge received the Eckersberg Medal and in 2008 she was awarded the Statens Kunstfonds' lifetime honorarium"
