Luís Noronha da Costa, born in 1942 in Lisbon, Portugal, is a prominent Portuguese painter and filmmaker known for his contributions to the field of contemporary art. He studied painting at the Lisbon School of Fine Arts and later delved into cinema, studying at the London Film School. Noronha da Costa's artistic style is characterized by a unique blend of abstraction and figuration, often incorporating a subtle interplay of light and shadow, which has been described as "metaphysical realism." His work has been exhibited widely in Portugal and internationally, earning him recognition as one of the leading figures in the Portuguese art scene. In addition to his visual art, he has also made a mark in the world of cinema with his film "Mudar de Vida" (1966), which he co-directed with Paulo Rocha.
