Biography :

"From 1949 to 1998, the Süddeutsche Rundfunk (SDR) was the state broadcaster for the northern part of Baden-Württemberg, more precisely for the area of the state of Württemberg-Baden, which existed until 1952.

The SDR was a public law institution with its headquarters in Stuttgart and a founding member of the ARD. There were studios in Mannheim, Karlsruhe, Heilbronn, Heidelberg and Ulm as well as in Bonn. On October 1, 1998, Süddeutscher Rundfunk and Südwestfunk (SWF) were merged into the new Südwestrundfunk (SWR)."
