Gino De Dominicis (1947)
Italy
Biography :
"Gino de Dominicis (1947-1998) was one of Italy's most mysterious and revered post-war artists. Gravitating around the Arte Povera and Transavanguardia movements, he preferred to distance himself from them and remain a solitary, fiercely independent artist. His refusal to grant interviews to the press and the art world contributed to his reputation as an eccentric artist. He invented so many myths about his life that many admirers found it difficult to believe that his death was not yet another fiction. De Dominicis has worked in many mediums, including sculpture, painting, film and installation. His main themes include space, immortality and the hidden nature of things and matter, although his work remains decidedly enigmatic."
