Description
“Created in Basel, following Guyonnet's meeting with the conductor and patron Paul Sacher, "Lucifer photophore" exploits the possibilities offered by the EMS Specter synthesizer. This work brings together sound and image in a unique way, far from the musical accompaniment of figures or filmed elements. The image is composed and modulated according to an electronic tune composed by Guyonnet and Henri Pousseur, the video signal reacting to the sound signal. It is the story of a sphere and of colors that is presented to us, which seem to dance, stretch, fall, withdraw, blossom, while occasionally crossing a human face and a monitor screen. Guyonnet uses total freedom in the structuring of this video film since the opening credits mix with the shapes and surfaces as well as the music. The words of the title, the name of the artist and the mention of Studios A.R.T. are an integral part of the visual spectacle. Lucifer, before becoming the fallen angel, meant in Latin "bearer of light", which is also indicated by the term of Greek origin "photophore". By this pleonasm placed in the title, Guyonnet seems to refer to the double component of his video, in which sound is light, is image and vice versa.” (Source, website, FMAC Contemporary art fund of the City of Geneva)
