TV + VT Werke

Description

“These ‘Tele-actions’ were produced for public television Austrian. […] These short sequences are part of a logic of performance and are intended to interrupt the program of the viewer. In TV-News (TV Death 2), an authentic presenter newscaster takes puffs on a cigar while he presents the information, then appears suffocating from smoke as if it were actually locked into the TV. In TV-Aquarium (TV Death 1), the television set becomes an aquarium in which a fish dies as the water is drained. The artist (rather than explain it in words) demonstrates with its ‘Tele-actions’ that images are capable of emitting meaning, when, by extracting them from usual device of television, we make them objects of reflection. » (Source, press release from the Pompidou exhibition in 2006)
