Reflexionen über die Geburt der Venus
Reflections on the Birth of Venus

Description

"Subsequent color video production of the performance from 1975/76
On the screen you can see the figure of the naked goddess in the large shell, lonely, deprived of her picturesque surroundings, projected life-size onto the wall against a black background. Embedded in the image of the figure of Venus is the artist's figure, which slowly rotates on its own axis - to the rhythm of a contemporary song by Bob Dylan, which determines the interpretation of the work. Like the change from light to dark times of day, the rotating actor alternately becomes visible and invisible. It is an extremely simple movement, but one that is astonishingly fascinating and executed with astonishing coherence."
