Die Verlorenheit des Spielers
The lostness of the player or the contradiction of memories

Description

The work is composed of two tapes, two monitors and a text. (Source: Wulf Herzogenrath, "Marcel Odenbach, Das im Entwischen Erwischte Pläne 1975-1983 Video", Germany: Kunsthalle Bremen, 2008, p.191.)

"The installation consists of two black and white monitors that face each other on different levels. The height of the monitors and the respective sound of the video tapes are derived from the logic of the camera's location and not from that of the image. The monitors show two situations from the same angle by replacing the image of the recording with the location of the camera.
It's about a comparison of the private area with that of the external living environment. On the one hand, you can see a window from below and hear the street noise. Second: a street recorded from this window and listening to Hayden's “Four Seasons”. The change within both recordings is purely coincidental; the logic, caused by the camera, brings with it a confusion. The installation has a quote associated with it."
