Additional Informations
"Tibor Hajas' collaboration with photographer János Vető after 1976 marked a new era in his career. According to Tibor Hajas, film is a direct medium that forces its viewer to accept it as reality, even though it is nothing more than "the possibility of imagination to create a state". In his films, he therefore alienates the medium and stylizes the image. He examines the possible actions of a personality left alone in a sterilized environment (here the demon locked in a white room) through allegorical, vague images. In addition to the expressive emphasis of the theme, the inclusion of a narrator emphasizes the fictional nature of the medium. The video was made as an independent production with Tamás Papp's Akai VCR. The recording was preserved by Sándor Murányi, the current version – perhaps already viewable – was created by the C3 Foundation after the almost completely disintegrated tape was transcribed and digitized, and is the work of Gábor Tálosi. Its original title was Jewels of Darkness. The film, which can be divided into three parts, tells the story of a robbery; the preparation, the burglary and the prison. According to Hajas, "The democratization of video is mind-blowing. There is only one message, one news” (The Beauty of Cathode Radiation, 1977)" (Source, website, Ludwig Museum)
