The Time is Right for…

Description

"The Time Is Right For is a frantic video collage made from fragments of television advertisements and news clips. In between this, a shredder cuts paper endlessly into ribbons over the constant beating of drums, with screams and jingles and split-seconds of soundtracks fighting for space. Political figures merge into bikini girls who merge into sausages, and the work becomes a kind of “TV exquisite corpse”. Hakola’s graduation work for the Helsinki Academy of Fine Arts in 1984 was remastered in 2017 and exists as both a film and an installation."
