Eine Frau ist eine Frau ist eine Frau ...

Description

"In fleeting moments, the artist's hair and face appear on the screen as she performs cult-like movements in front of the camera. The background is a photo of a room filled with masks. In addition, one continuously hears the sentences she speaks: "A rose is a rose is a rose..." (Gertrude Stein).
The tautologies Woman - Rose expose the term, which has been reduced to a clichéd formula. The concepts are inevitably accompanied by certain associatively linked ideas. Language may become a constraint on meaning. Here Ulrike Rosenbach attempts to strip the words of their intended and perceived meaning. With the masks as a symbol for the term, which has been reduced to a meaningless cliché, the artist introduces an almost surrealistic, alienating moment."
