Description
"Accompanying the piano piece Death and The Girl [Der Tod und Das Mädchen] by Franz Schubert, which gave the volume its name, this video studio action is a typical example of the artist's first video works, which are based on sculptural objects from the late 1960s. The video shows Rosenbach wrapping layers of white cotton around a woman's clasped hands until a large, soft muff is created. The process associates keeping the arms warm and at the same time the passivity that is associated with the typical consequences of prevented freedom of movement - an ironic allusion from the artist's feminist repertoire."
