Ein Zusammenhang ist da, nicht erklärbar, doch zu erzählen

Description

The work is composed of two tapes, two monitors and a text. (Source: Wulf Herzogenrath, "Marcel Odenbach, Das im Entwischen Erwischte Pläne 1975-1983 Video", Germany: Kunsthalle Bremen, 2008, p.191.)

"Two monitors stand opposite each other with their screens in the middle of a room. The image on one monitor is directly visible to the viewer. On it you can see a black and white video tape in which the tips of a group of fir trees move in the wind. The sound for this video tape is taken from a sound record under the title: “Country life on the farm”. The second monitor, which has its back facing the entrance, shows a brownish colored video tape. It is a rotating and swinging fan to which you can listen to oriental music. By changing the position of the viewer in the room, the sound shifts so much that the image and sound are completely reversed. Both clichés used to describe the mood of the Occident and the Orient are mixed up. A quote is assigned to the installation."
