Lotusknospentöne

Description

"In the video work Lotus Bud Tones, a provocatively slow sequence of actions is an essential element of the action. The artist's face can be seen in screen-filling size. She brings her hands together in front of her face, holding two long pieces of wood. With every hit there is a dull, reverberating sound. With every centimeter of the slow movement of the hands, the face behind them seems to change. The exercise with the two wooden sticks returns regularly; Permanent eye contact with the viewer maintains the tension. The slight changes in the details: All of this seems to breathe more of the atmosphere of a meditation than the usual fast, moving consumer images of television, which probably already formed the background for the viewer's viewing expectations at the time the video was produced."
