11ème Biennale de Paris
Paris - France
Description
The 11th Paris Biennale took place from September 20 to November 2, 1980 at the Museum of Modern Art of the City of Paris.
Information
From 1959 to 1985, 13 editions of the Paris Biennale were held in different Parisian locations (Musée d'Art Moderne de la Ville de Paris, Parc Floral de Vincennes, Musée National d'Art Moderne, Center Georges Pompidou and Grande Halle de la Villette), with some cases of homelessness in the suburbs and in the provinces (Nice, Strasbourg). The demonstration was organized by an association under the 1901 law, which had offices at 31 rue Berryer, 75008 Paris. It was directed over its 13 editions by three successive general delegates: Raymond Cogniat (1959-1965), Jacques Lassaigne (1967-1969) and Georges Boudaille (1971-1985). In 1985, the last edition renamed “New Biennale de Paris” took place at the Grande Halle de la Villette. The association then dissolved due to financial problems. The "Paris Biennale, International Event of Young Artists" had three selection criteria: Youth: participants, and at one point, the critics and artists on the selection committee, had to be between 20 and 35 years old. International openness: around 45 participating countries per edition, with for certain years guests of honor (China, East Germany, Latin America, South Korea, South Africa, USSR, etc.) Interdisciplinarity, with a focus for certain editions on video, slowscan, performance, music, comics, etc. Source: Paris Biennale Fund KANDINSKY LIBRARY, RESERVED Kandinsky Library - MNAM-CCI - Center Pompidou, Paris
